About the Position:
Harris Health System is seeking a full-time Interpreter to join the team at LBJ Hospital. In this role, you will provide oral interpretations and written translations in Spanish and English, ensuring effective communication between patients, visitors, and healthcare providers. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records of interpretation encounters, identifying and addressing the psychosocial needs of limited-English-speaking patients, and delivering exceptional service in both in-person and over-the-phone settings.

Responsibilities:
- Provide oral interpretations and written translations in Spanish and English.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of interpretation encounters.
- Identify and address the psychosocial needs of limited-English-speaking patients, visitors, and guests.
- Conduct interpretations in person and over the phone as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical interpretation in a healthcare setting (or equivalent experience). Healthcare experience preferred.
- Languages: Must be proficient in Spanish and English.
- Must pass an interpretation proficiency examination designated by Harris Health System.
- Strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed.
