About the Position: Harris Health System is seeking a highly experienced Vice President - Controller to support the Senior Vice President of Finance and ensure the strategic financial goals of the organization are met. The Controller will oversee key financial activities, including financial operations, financial controls, treasury, and capital structure management, providing essential financial expertise in areas such as external audits, bond financing, insurance, and risk. Serving as the chief financial adviser, the Controller will collaborate with leaders across all levels of the organization to strengthen Harris Health’s financial position. The impact of this role is significant, influencing decisions and reports delivered to Harris Health’s senior leadership, Board of Trustees, Commissioners Court, and rating agencies.

Requirements:

• Degrees: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master’s degree in aligned disciplines (MBA, MS, MHA, MPA)
• Licenses & Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Texas
• Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years in accounting or healthcare finance, with prior experience in a Big Four accounting firm preferred
• Management Experience: Minimum of 7 years in progressive management roles within accounting or healthcare finance
• Communication Skills:
  • Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)
  • Exceptional verbal skills (public speaking)
  • Strong writing skills for correspondence and report writing
• Proficiencies: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PC proficiency
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Analytical, mathematics, medical terminology, research, and statistical skills
• Work Schedule: Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, travel, on-call, and telecommute as needed to meet business requirements
